This week, ZAMIN shows you one of our very colorful art group. They are making all their colorful tableware by their own hands to bring happiness to your house. When the ZAMIN team decided to work with artists in Iran who focus on handmade items, our very first artists we met were Omid and Laleh Ghajarian who run Maahforooz. We also met with their team. Last March we visited their complex, where is located in a suburb of Tehran. The first impression you get when you walk inside the complex is ‘wow’: so many different colors and the absolute friendliness of the Maahforooz team. They Always welcome every guest by a nice cup of tea (served of course in their own handmade cups). Afterwards they show you around in their complex and explain everything. There are different sections in this complex and they show you how each ceramic item is created.
How Maahforooz started…
The Maahforooz art group launched its productions in 2011 with a focus on producing ceramic works. Omid and Laleh Ghajarian are managing the Maahforooz Group. Omid is specialized in the art of ceramic and Laleh focuses more on the design and painting.
The Maahforooz complex has two sections. In the first section they produce tableware and different types of bricks. In the other one is a tile with particular bodies and glazes. Maahforooz has launched its productions with the idea of showing the amazing “colorful life” in Iran. They focus on producing practical products for people’s everyday life and producing distinctive wares and tools in Iranian homes.
Bring joy to your kitchen with Maahforooz
The main goal is to bring and create a joyful and vivid atmosphere in the kitchen of Iranian homes. Maahforooz also follows the contemporary art while keeping the originality of culture in their work. In their complex, you can find all kind of colors. The interesting part of their color pallet is the names they use for all their colors. I remember it was rather difficult to keep up with the color names when we wanted to make our first order. When only thinking of the color blue, they offer: Maahforooz blue, turquoise blue slow blue (which I think is more like a kind of light blue) and many more blues!
How we chose our color pallet for our first order at Maahforooz?
Before we started to serious think about ZAMIN, we brought some samples which would fit in the Dutch culture and tested it to find out what Dutch people like. We had different type of colors from deep colors to soft colors or plate with patterns or without patterns. Our research showed that Dutch people mainly prefer softer colors and no pattern rather that deep colors and patterns. Obviously there are also people who prefer deep colors and patterns.
Based on the information we made our first order at Maahforooz. Mostly soft colors and also some unique deep colors. When we see all the items in one place, they make us very happy. We truly believe that a colorful table wear brings a smile on one’s face. We have enough colors to satisfy your taste. Just have a look by following this link: xx.
